Spring Beauty Edit

Spring Beauty Edit

PSA: Above freezing temps are coming and I couldn’t be more excited about it!

I’ve been a little MIA on the blog lately especially with my monthly favourites, but I’m ready to get back into the swing of things especially with Spring around the corner. I’ve rounded up my Spring Beauty Edit, but in all honesty, almost all of these products I’ve used for years and they’ve become my tried + true favourites with a few exceptions of new products that have been thrown into the mix as of lately.

As much as I love testing new makeup and experimenting with new products, I pretty much have a set routine that I use daily. I like to stick to what works for my skin however I’m always following along in the beauty world to see what new products are coming out and I’ll test a few every season to see what all the hype is about.

From top left and over, I’m sharing each product and why I love it:

Benefit, Hoola Bronzer (Sephora): I’ve been using Hoola bronzer since my high school days and the best part about it is that it’s a matte finish with zero sparkle in it. I also find it looks super natural because it’s a brown tone instead of orange.

Urban Decay NAKED 2 Eyeshadow Palette (Sephora): This is a great neutral palette with so many options that can take you from day to night. I mostly use the lighter white/beige shades for day makeup, and add some of the darker browns for an evening look. It’s not super convenient to travel with a large palette like this, but I always make sure I have it with me because it’s so versatile.

L’oreal Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner ( Fun fact about me, I never go out without liquid eyeliner on. Unless I have zero eye makeup on which is almost never, I am wearing this eyeliner. I’ve used it for years and love the waterproof formula. It stays in place, doesn’t smudge and is super pigmented. I’ve never been a big fan of the eyeliner pots with a brush, so I’ve always stuck to this felt tip pen because I find it’s easiest to get a steady line across my eyelid. Also it’s $13, so you really can’t go wrong!

MAC Eyeshadow in ‘Blanc Type’ (MAC): This neutral shade has been a staple of mine forever because it’s a white/beige matte shadow that covers darker lids. It’s a great shade for brightening up your eyes and contrasting a liquid eyeliner ‘cat eye’ look.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (Sephora): I cannot live without this setting spray. I’m a firm believer that everyone needs this spray in their life! I use it everyday after I’ve finished my makeup routine to set it in place for the day. I used to always have to re-do my makeup if I was going out after work as I felt my makeup would essentially “slide off” somehow during the day, but this truly makes it stay put. It makes your makeup last so much longer and they also sell a hydrating spray which i’m a fan of, and a matte one if your skin is on the oily side.

Artist Approved ‘Linda’ Faux Mink Lash (Artist Approved): I recently tried these lashes from a Toronto based company, and I absolutely love them. I’ve tried eyelash extensions, every mascara in the book, Velour lashes from Sephora - everything! These lashes are 100% vegan faux mink lashes that are so lightweight you forget you even have them on. My biggest problem is that I always feel lashes are heavy, but these felt almost weightless once they’re on. The ‘Linda’ lash is the perfect amount of fullness without looking like you’re wearing false lashes.

Summer Fridays ‘Jet Lag’ Mask (Sephora): This product has had a huge hype over the past year and for good reason. I wanted to include it here (even though it’s technically more skincare related) because I use it as a hydrating primer as a base layer before applying my makeup. It’s important to prep your skin properly before applying your makeup as it helps create an even canvas. Especially on those tired, dry days - this really comes in handy!

Charlotte Tilbury ‘B.I.T.C.H Perfect’ (Sephora or Nordstrom): My favourite lipstick shade that gives your lip a slight pop of colour without being too noticeable. It’s a hydrating formula that lasts and looks natural. I’m not a huge lipstick fan and I definitely don’t wear it everyday, so I’ve stuck to this tried + true formula for the past year or so.

MAC Mineralize Blush Highlighter in ‘Dainty’ (MAC): I use this luminous powder as a highlight/blush mix. It has a nice light pink tone to it (I use shade ‘Dainty’) with the perfect amount of shimmer. I apply this onto my cheekbones for a light pink glow after the rest of my face is done!

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation (Sephora): I love this liquid foundation because it’s buildable yet lightweight and looks extremely natural. It’s almost unnoticeable and gives a flawless finish. It’s on the expensive side, but lasts forever. A great option if you’re looking for simple, no fuss coverage.

Artist Approved 14-PIece Brush Set (Artist Approved): This 14 piece Brush Set is literally EVERYTHING you need and more in a brush set. The brushes themselves are very high quality and come with the cutest little black travel pouch (I like it because it keeps them together for easy travel and keeps them cleaner than being loose in my makeup bag). I used to own maybe 2 or 3 brushes that I used for multiple products (not ideal) so now I finally have a brush for every step of my routine that are specifically made for those products. The rose gold detailing on all the brushes is beautiful but also thoughtful because each brush tells you what it’s to be used for (which I appreciate as a brush newbie). My favourite brushes within the set are the powder brush, because it applies powder/bronzer SUPER evenly and the concealer blender brush as it seamlessly blends into the under eye area and blemishes.

RMS Un-Cover Up Concealer (The Detox Market): Let’s just say I’ve tried MANY concealers in my day to cover up my under eye area and this one is definitely the most noteworthy of them all. It’s essentially weightless but brightens like no other and hydrates well. The worst is the cakey, thick under eye concealers that sink in fine lines and luckily this one is the complete opposite. Also great for uneven areas and covering up lighter blemishes. Definitely want to try more RMS products as they are a company made with safer, organic and natural ingredients.
